Dr. Roman Pham grew up in San Francisco, CA. He attended the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where he received his bachelor's degree in biological sciences. Dr. Pham’s path to chiropractic was not a conventional one. After spending several years as a fitness instructor, where he worked with dozens of different clients that ranged from athletes to geriatrics. He found that too many were dealing with chronic and acute pain, hindering their performance and quality of life. Dr. Pham was disappointed to see his clients having nowhere to turn, but their pain medications. Even as a fitness instructor he knew this was only a temporary remedy and his capacity to help them was limited. Dr. Pham researched different avenues to address their cause of pain and discomfort. Dr. Pham discovered Chiropractic, a safe and holistic approach in addressing chronic and acute pain for his clients. He attended Palmer West, in San Jose California where he worked on his skills and knowledge of the human body and graduated with his doctorate in Chiropractic. Dr. Pham has a very gentle approach in his practice. He is dedicated to providing state of the art natural pain relief treatments, coupled with education about how to stay out of pain. His technique of choice is diversified and is used in conjunction with physical therapy modalities as well as rehabilitation exercises.
The nervous system is a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body such as muscle and joints. No part of your body escapes the dominance of your nervous system. Improper function of the spine due to even slight misalignments can cause poor health or function, even in areas far removed from the spine and spinal cord itself. Misalignments can also reduce the ability of your body to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Even the slightest malfunction of your spine may interfere with normal transmission of nerve impulses, preventing that portion of your body from responding optimally. Chiropractic is a natural form of healthcare that uses spinal adjustments to correct these misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping your body to heal naturally. Chiropractic doesn't use drugs or surgery. Rather, a chiropractic spinal adjustment-the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment-corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate on its own.
Laser therapy has been adopted as an essential pain management tool by team doctors in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, FIFA and Olympic teams. LiteCure Medical is the preferred laser therapy manufacturer of professional trainers because it delivers consistent results. Elite athletes consistently rejoin the team faster when this energizing treatment is part of the treatment plan. Laser therapy is a safe and non-invasive way to control inflammation and increase joint flexibility by delivering light energy units in the form of photons to damaged cells which promotes healing. This unique therapy can be used as.. In adjunct to Chiropractic care Possible substitute for surgery A pre-surgery treatment Post-surgery treatment to accelerate healing A long-term pain management system Acute injury treatment.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a process in which our doctors use a set of hand held instruments to break down the scar tissue and fascial restrictions in soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia, and nerves). Once the damaged areas are detected, the instruments are used to deliver a controlled microtrauma to the affected area. Adhesions within the soft tissue that may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, or repetitive strain, are broken down, allowing the patient to regain function. The treatment will help to decrease pain, increases range of motion and enhance recovery time. Achilles Tendinosis/itis (ankle pain) Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist pain) Cervical Sprain/Strain (neck pain) Fibromyalgia Lateral Epicondylosis/itis (tennis elbow) Lumbar Sprain/Strain (back pain) Medial Epicondylosis/itis (golfer's elbow) Patellofemoral Disorders (knee pain) Plantar Fasciitis (foot pain) Rotator Cuff Tendinosis/itis (shoulder pain) Scar Tissue Shin Splints
Kinesio Tape was created and developed by Chiropractor Dr. Kenzo Kase in 1973. It is currently being used by practitioners to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and improve posture. In comparison to the very rigid traditional McConnell Tape, Kinesio Tape allows for natural movement patterns, while helping to support the surrounding structures. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, certified athletic trainers, chiropractors, physicians, manual therapists, nurses, and physiotherapists around the world are using Kinesio Tape for many dysfunctions. On skin, the Kinesio Tape pulls the upper layers of skin, creating more space between the dermis and the muscle. The space created is believed to relieve pressure on the lymph channels in the area between the muscle and the dermis, creating more space for lymph flow and thus better lymph drainage through an affected area. This space also houses various nerve receptors that send specific information to the brain. When the space between the epidermis and the muscle is compressed, such as during an injury, these nerve receptors are compressed and send information to the brain regarding continuous touch, light touch, cold, pain, pressure, and heat. This information causes the brain to send out certain signals to the body on how to react to particular stimuli. Kinesio Tape alters the information that these receptors send to the brain and causes a less reactive response in the body, allowing the body to work in a more normal manner and removing some of the roadblocks that normally slow down the healing process.
What is a myofascial adhesion? A myofascial adhesion is an abnormally thick fibrous tissue that is created over time. People can get them in any muscle of the body. Things that cause adhesions are poor posture, overuse(repetitive motion injury) , and acute injury. When you spend much of your day doing one thing over and over it causes those muscles to be overworked and can lead not only to adhesions but muscle tears and nerve entrapment. Injury to the muscle causes the muscle to contract around the injury site to try and keep us from harming it any more than we already have. If left untreated they can become chronic. Myofascial release technique is a soft tissue movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, fascia and nerves. It is the active motion, directed pressure, and specificity of treatment of the muscle that allows the practitioner to break up the adhesions. Each treatment only takes a few passes over the structure, and accomplishes greater results in a shorter amount of time than other soft tissue therapies. Myofascial Release Technique is extremely effective when it comes to treating soft tissue conditions whether it be athletic injuries such as shin splints, tight calf muscles and IT Band problems or work-induced pain like carpal tunnel or shoulder and neck tension.

As an avid volleyball player and a dental hygienist, I have a tendency to acquire a lot of injuries and put my body through a lot of stress, but Dr. Pham has done an amazing job of keeping me on the court and at work!!Abby A.
He is extremely knowledgeable, knows both injuries and his treatment tools very well, and I highly appreciate that. He is truly a genuine and compassionate doctor who always puts my needs and well-being first.
You're amazing Dr. Pham!! THANK YOU!!!
Absolutely one of the best chiropractors i have visited. I suffer from degenerative joint disease in the knees and Dr. Pham was able to get me out of pain after only a few visits. I am an avid basketball player and he was able help me return to play within a month. Dr. pham used the graston technique as well as active release on my legs to help decrease pressure around my joints. Overall, my experience at this office has been nothing short of amazing. Also, my sister was involved in a personal injury car accident and Dr. Pham did a really thorough job in fixing her.Calvin C.
I was very hesitant when I first visited the office to see Dr. Pham, he was much younger than I expected and was worried that he did not have the experience to help heal me. I've been suffering from major back pain for years and have not been able to receive any relief. I've seen my PCP, physical therapist, massage therapist, and even consulted with a surgeon. I came across Dr. Pham's yelp page and thought I should give him a try, and I'm so glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable and professional he is. He was realistic with what he can do and honest about what I can expect.Amy H
I've been seeing Dr. Pham on a regular bases now and he's been able to help me manage the pain and do things I have not been able to do for years. Highly recommended!
